The Family Support Program through Family and Children’s Service of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington has been a part of the community since 1981. The Family Support Program is a voluntary service which provides support and services to families in Lennox and Addington County who have children under the age of 18 who have physical and/ or developmental disabilities.
The Family Support Program is available to families who meet all the following criteria:
You will be required to provide documentation from a health professional that identifies your child’s diagnosis.
A referral can come from any service provider or professional working with the family. Families can even self-refer. A member of the Family Support Team will receive the referral and contact the family. An intake meeting will be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon date and time whereby the family can meet with a Family Support Worker and talk about the services available to them. A Family Support Worker and the family will work together to develop a service plan that identifies strategies, services and supports to address the families unique circumstances.
As part of our program we offer a fun and inclusive day respite program that is geared to children and youth between the ages of 4-18 years old who have physical and/ or developmental disabilities called Kool Kamp.
We have been providing this service to our community for more than 20 years. Kool Kamp provides children and youth with the opportunity to participate in a camp experience that they otherwise would not able to engage in due to their unique needs. We provide enhanced support that is structured around the unique needs of each individual participant. This allows us to be flexible in our service delivery and ensures that participants experience full inclusion in physical activity.
Kool Kamp can provide ratios of 1:5 to 1:1 staff support which is unique to any other recreational program in our area. This enhanced support allows all the children and youth who access our program to participate in physical activities such as swimming, bowling, playground play, dance, hiking, walks, gymnastics and field and court sports.
